About Me
***Just a heads up that we are currently re-organizing the curriculum for WH, I am keeping the previous curriculum up until our new curriculum is in place***
Hi I'm Troy Van Valkenburg and this will be my 12th year teaching at Kenowa Hills High School. I have a Bachelor's degree in Science from Grand Valley State University and teacher's certification in Group Social Studies (RX) and History (CC) and I have completed my Masters of Education focusing on Differentiated Instruction. I feel as an educator I will offer students a diverse perspective of content and content literacy, while providing students with a safe and structured learning environment. Student's will receive relevant lessons based on research based instruction methods. Students will have accountability, appropriate social interaction, and realistic expectations modeled in my class.
I have also coached wrestling each year since I have graduated from Grandville High School. I feel extra-curricular activities are an additional avenue for students to contribute to their school and community, while working hard to instill character values that will help them reach their goals in life. This year I am taking a step back from the responsibilities and will coach at the middle school level at Grandville.
My teaching and coaching philosophy is rooted deeply in the beliefs that hard work will allow an individual to exceed their limitations.
